A: Well, when I’m using and applying his theories, I
don’t know if I’m being a scientist. The chairman of
my physics department many years ago didn’t
think I was doing science. I tried to persuade him
otherwise, when I applied for research money. It
was the Social Studies/Humanities research council
that gave me the money. But you see, McLuhan
said that there were no boundaries, that
specialism just disappears with electric speeds. So,
to make a division between science and art is
ridiculous. They’re just merged, they’re just
understanding.
